KEYNOTE SPEAKER, AUTHOR & PODCAST HOST
Phil Plumley spent his formative years in a small town on the Mediterranean coast, where he was born. This is where the sea's allure shaped his multicultural upbringing.
"My fascination with the sea grew from time on boats as well as stories and tales of exploration, inspired by the likes of Captain Scott and Shackleton, and fueled by the imaginative works of Jules Verne and Robert Louis Stevenson. Following Captain Cousteau's TV shows and books, I became attracted to ocean research and technology, finding adventure in every curiosity-driven research and study.

THE OCEAN MATTERS
When we think of the Ocean, several images come to mind. Lately, it ranges from beautiful beaches and fun water sports to a dark and doomed future for the ocean, and subsequently the planet.

We are looking to remember everything about the Ocean that makes it magic and inspiring, to remain informed, and to explore the multiple past, present, and future exercises looking to understand and help support the Ocean. The idea is to allow more people to join the conversation from wherever they are and inspire more people to blaze their trail as they cultivate their curiosity.
Understanding what the Ocean is, is one thing.
Understanding what the Ocean means, is another thing.
If we allow them to express themselves within a community, we allow all of them to gain new perspectives that can benefit all of us.
